IP-video Surveillance System at the Seversky Pipe Plant

30th of January 2018
Seversky Pipe Plant is one of the oldest metallurgical enterprises in Russia. The main products of the plant are round and shaped steel pipes of various sizes.

The video surveillance system has been installed on the facilities of the enterprise for over several years. The impetus for its modernization was the need for its expansion and subsequent operation. Therefore, the goal of the project was to build a single, easily scalable video surveillance system, which was supposed to provide the required level of security in the enterprise.
Convinced of the need to upgrade the existing video surveillance system, the customer’s management turned to the services of United Engineering Solutions LLC.
At the first stage, 4 plant facilities were equipped with the equipment for IP-video surveillance. At the main entrances and exits, as well as in the inside of workshops, were installed 12  TFortis PSW-1-45 and PSW-2G-UPS switches, to which were connected 30 IP-cameras. To protect the cameras from the adverse effects of the environment, TFortis TH-02 camera housings were used.

“Considering harsh operational conditions of the facility: voltage surges, thunderstorms, unfavorable electromagnetic environment, the basis of the system had to be equipment that could provide uninterrupted operation in harsh conditions. The availability of an uninterruptible power supply, a wide range of operating temperatures and built-in lightning protection have played a decisive role in the selection of TFortis equipment for the project,” said Alexei Vladimirovich Tararukhin, Director of United Engineering Solutions.
The ability of TFortis switches to automatically reboot the cameras in case of their hanging and powering the camera and the camera casing via single cable solved another task that faced integrators - minimizing the costs of installation and further maintenance of the system.

“Specialists of our company drew attention to the Fort Telecom products more than two years ago. Now, the TFortis series switches are a modern and reliable solution for networking IP-based video surveillance systems of various sizes. Special attention should be paid to the reliability of the equipment when working in difficult industrial conditions. In my opinion, TFortis equipment has no competitors on the Russian market,” added Alexey Tararukhin.
